PUT /settings/tracking
Switch tracking of opens and clicks on or off for the organization's mail to its customers and suppliers (on unless switched off).
A tracked email carries the mail provider's pixel and rewritten links, so the log records when it was first opened and first clicked; mail to the organization's own people and tests are never tracked, and texts cannot be. It applies to messages sent from now. Appends notifications.tracking-set. Idempotent by content: setting tracking as it stands appends nothing.
Access
Requires settings:write.
How scopes come from roles: Scopes and roles. Getting a token: Authentication and app tokens.
Retries
Idempotent by content: setting tracking as it stands appends nothing.
Why every write carries a key: Idempotency and retries.
Facts appended
notifications.tracking-set
What a fact is: Facts and the journal.
AI agent tool
No agent tool. Whether the merchant's customers and suppliers have their opens and clicks tracked is the owner's privacy call in Settings › Notifications, not an agent's.
Connecting an agent: AI agents.

Errors
Every refusal is a status and a JSON body whose _tag names it. A refused call changes nothing.

| Refusal | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Unauthorized reason | The token is missing, expired or not one Manifold issued. | Get a fresh token and send the call again. |
TokenAlreadyUsed tokenId | A single-use app token was already spent. | Mint a new token for this call. |
