Common tasks

Running the business

One guide per area of the admin. Each screen's "Learn more" link opens its guide.

  • OrdersTaking a sales order, moving it through allocate, pick, pack and ship, and recording what was paid, refunded and changed.
  • QuotesDrafting a quote, issuing it to a customer and placing it as an order: what each stage allows and why a quote holds no stock.
  • Customers and companiesKeeping the businesses and people you sell to and buy from: companies, their locations and contacts, payment terms, tax, catalogs, tags, and erasing a person's data.
  • Purchase ordersRaising a purchase order on a supplier, authorising it, receiving what arrives into a location, confirming the supplier's invoice, landing freight and paying the supplier.
  • Stock and locationsHow Manifold counts stock at each location: available, unavailable, incoming and projected; recording a movement; setting up locations; and moving stock between them.
  • StocktakesCounting stock in Manifold: starting a stocktake, recording counts and costs, reviewing the differences and completing it to correct the figures. The first one sets your opening stock value.
  • Catalogs and pricingHow catalogs set what you sell and at what price: list prices, currencies, price breaks, customer catalogs and derived catalogs.
  • Sales channels and ShopifyConnecting Shopify and other sales channels to Manifold: what comes in, what goes out, and how stock and orders stay in step.
  • ShippingPacking parcels, getting carrier quotes, booking consignments and setting shipping rates for each channel in Manifold.
  • Reports and the dashboardHow the business is doing: the dashboard's sales figures and cards, the reports under Financials (stock value, cost of goods sold, margin, the ledger), building your own report, and exporting the figures.
  • Accounting and ledgersHow Manifold posts sales, costs and stock value to the general ledger, and sends journals to Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.
  • Import & exportBringing items, stock, prices and orders in from a CSV, mapping its columns, and taking data back out.
  • Read-only mode and going liveWhy a new Manifold organization starts read-only, what is held until it goes live, and what happens when you go live.
  • People and rolesInviting people to your organization, giving them roles, and ending their access in Manifold without losing their history.
