Manifold for Slack

Ask about stock and orders without leaving Slack. /manifold stock <sku> and /manifold order <number> answer from your business's Manifold, and a pasted order, quote or product link is summarised in the channel — always as the person asking, so nobody sees in Slack what they couldn't see in Manifold.

Add to Slack Included with every Manifold plan.

What it does

Stock in a sentence

/manifold stock <sku> answers what is available, on hand, reserved, incoming and backordered, across your sites. Only you see the answer.

Orders and quotes

/manifold order <number> answers an order's or quote's status, total and lines, with a link straight to it in Manifold.

Links that explain themselves

Paste a Manifold order, quote or product link and the channel sees its number, status and total, or the product and its SKUs — read as the person who pasted it.

As you, never more

Each person links their own Slack user to their Manifold account. Their role in Manifold decides what they can ask about; unlinking, or removing their access in Manifold, ends it.

Add it in four steps

  1. Add to Slack. Slack asks someone who can install apps in your workspace to approve Manifold.
  2. Choose your business. Back in Manifold, sign in — or create your account — and choose the organization the workspace is for. An owner or admin of that organization does this step.
  3. Link yourself. The Manifold bot sends you a message. Run /manifold link, sign in and confirm.
  4. Ask away. Try /manifold help. Everyone else in the workspace links their own Slack user the same way.

Commands

/manifold stock <sku>Available, on hand, reserved, incoming and backordered for a SKU.
/manifold order <number>An order's or quote's status, total and lines.
/manifold linkLink your Slack user to your Manifold account (a one-time link, sent to you, good for 15 minutes).
/manifold unlinkEnd that link.
/manifold helpWhat the app can do.

Permissions it asks for

The app asks Slack for these, and nothing else. It has no access to your messages, files or channels' history.

commandsAdds the /manifold command.
chat:writeSends the bot's own messages in its Messages tab: the welcome to whoever installed it, and each person's one-time link to their Manifold account.
links:readHears that a link to your Manifold admin was pasted — Slack sends only links on that domain.
links:writeShows the summary of that pasted Manifold link.
users:readShows your Slack display name on the page where you link your Manifold account.

Your data

Manifold keeps the record that the app was installed and who linked their Slack user — Slack workspace and user identifiers and names, never message text or what anyone asked. The app's access token is stored encrypted and is deleted, and every person's link ended, the moment the app is uninstalled; seven days later the workspace's remaining Slack data is erased automatically (add the app back within the seven days and it is kept). A link summary is visible to everyone in the channel, Slack Connect guests included, so it shows only what the person who pasted it may see. The privacy policy (section 7, Slack) and the terms of service (section 3) say exactly what is kept and for how long.

Questions

Do I need a Manifold account?

Yes — the app answers from your business's Manifold. If you don't have one yet, adding the app lets you create your account on the way, and every plan starts with a 60-day free trial. The Slack app itself costs nothing extra.

Who can add it to our workspace?

Someone who can install apps in your Slack workspace approves it in Slack, and an owner or admin of your Manifold organization chooses which business it is for. One Slack workspace connects to one Manifold organization.

What can people see in Slack?

Only what they may see in Manifold. Each person links their own Slack user to their own Manifold account with /manifold link, and every answer is read with their access. Someone who hasn't linked is asked to link first and is told nothing else.

Does Manifold read our messages?

No. The app receives the /manifold commands people type and the Manifold admin links they paste — Slack sends nothing else. It keeps no message text, and none of your Slack data is used for advertising or to train AI models.

How do I remove it?

Uninstall it in Manifold under Settings › Apps › Slack, or remove it from your workspace in Slack. Either way the app's access token is deleted and every person's link ends at once, and the workspace's Slack names and ids are erased seven days later unless you add it back first.
