Set a SKU's cost basis by hand

PUT /items/{sku}/cost

Set a SKU's cost basis by hand — a standard cost, or an import's starting figure — in the organization's home currency.

It stands until the next receive that carries a cost. A kit's cost basis is its components' and cannot be set (409 SkuCostNotSettable). Every cost-plus catalog re-derives from it on its next read. Appends inventory.sku-cost-set. Idempotent by content: a retry setting the same figure appends nothing.

Access

Requires catalogs:write.

How scopes come from roles: Scopes and roles. Getting a token: Authentication and app tokens.

Retries

Idempotent by content: a retry setting the same figure appends nothing.

Why every write carries a key: Idempotency and retries.

Facts appended

  • inventory.sku-cost-set

What a fact is: Facts and the journal.

AI agent tool

Agents call this as catalog_set_cost (Catalog: Set cost), in the pricing toolset.

Connecting an agent: AI agents.

Example

Set a standard cost of $13.00 by hand.

The panel writes this call in other languages. It does not send it: Manifold's APIs do not take calls from a web page on another site, so run the call from your own code or terminal. The whole API as OpenAPI: inventory-manager.openapi.json. Base URL https://inventory.getmanifold.io.
