Accounting Ledger API · ledgers
Report the day the other books are locked through
PUT /ledgers/{ledgerId}/lock
Report the day the other books are locked through, as the ledger's own app reads it there (the latest of the provider's lock dates), or none: only that app (403 NotALedgerApp, NotThisLedgersApp), for a connected ledger (409 LedgerDisconnected).
While the ledger is connected its lock counts toward the books' period lock (GET /books/lock): nothing dated on or before it changes in the general ledger, and what is unsent from before it is planned on the first open day. It moves either way, as the provider says. Appends accounting.ledger-lock-reported. Idempotent by content: the lock as it stands appends nothing.
Access
Requires financials:write.
How scopes come from roles: Scopes and roles. Getting a token: Authentication and app tokens.
Retries
Idempotent by content: the lock as it stands appends nothing.
Why every write carries a key: Idempotency and retries.
Facts appended
accounting.ledger-lock-reported
What a fact is: Facts and the journal.
AI agent tool
No agent tool. Only the ledger's own app, under its own token, connects its books, maps them, plans and answers their journals (NotALedgerApp for anyone else); an agent sends the merchant to the app's page under Apps instead.
Connecting an agent: AI agents.

Errors
Every refusal is a status and a JSON body whose _tag names it. A refused call changes nothing.

Unauthorized reason | The token is missing, expired or not one Manifold issued. | Get a fresh token and send the call again. |
